Cairn Terrier – beautiful at almost 2years

Mack the Cairn Terrier loves posing for photos - he knows he looks good. He is showing off his thickening winter coat and do admire his beautiful tail.

We have met Mack before click here. He has matured nicely. Highly intelligent and socialized he has lots of walking friends. He has given his family great pleasure and they love the touch of mischief that lurks behind those enquiring eyes.
He has developed into a stunning adult Cairn Terrier.
I was delighted to get these photos of him. Keep smiling Mack.

Cairn Terrier Mack attends dog training

“Just to show he felt it would be wasted on him, we came home from work to find he had climbed up onto the dining room table, located our new map book open at the page of the obedience school, ripped that page and surrounding pages out, and destroyed them.
Then he waited till I served up dinner on the table and just like magic the phone rang.
Mack wasted not a second in climbing up again and dragging the pile of pasta, Bolognese sauce and cheese off the plate. WOW!!
But obedience school was a blast after all – with about 60 + dogs arriving to register and join classes at levels from puppy school to competition performance tuition. Dogs, dogs, dogs of all shapes and sizes – spread out in classes across a large field and around the outside of the fence-line.
Mack was not surprised he found lots of new friends and he can’t wait for the next week to roll around. But Dad was the only owner in Mack’s class who forgot to take any treats – so they will be paying some dogs back next week….”

Mack is going to continue at obedience school. We'll keep watch on his progress.

Living with your new dog, Mack Cairn Terrier
Mack's Mum has sent me some photos and an up-date on Life with their dog Mack. See my blog Cairn terrier finds a home.

Bobby
"To update you on Mack – who rules our lives lately.
Mack is enjoying life and we are too as we climb the steep learning curve of being competent dog Mum and Dad. Luckily Mack met Bobby in the park at the end of our street. Bobby lives just the other side of the park and is a handsome, well-behaved, gentleman - an 8 year old Cairn. They hit it off immediately! Bobby's Mum is a very experienced and knowledgeable dog trainer who kindly took the time to come with Bobby and his Dad to Mack’s house for afternoon tea.

We walk through several trails of parkland in this suburb and then on to the Stebbings Dam where these days Mack gets to run off the lead and chase and fetch balls – as long as there aren’t any big dogs around at the time. He cools off with a swim in the dam before we head for home. He does it all again – or similar – after tea, with Dad. Tonight he supervised while we picked blackberries."
We will hear more of Mack adapting to life with his new Mum and Dad. He has just begun Obedience School.

Cairn terrier finds a home

These photos of Mack, a cute Cairn terrier puppy, were sent to me from New Zealand. He is this household’s first dog and he has a gold fish to thank for finding him a new home.
The shopping expedition was to buy a replacement goldfish. A dog didn’t enter his new owners’ thoughts as they drove to the pet shop. But there was Mack, waiting. Messages went between them and they all fell in love.

Mack spoke to them.
They bought the goldfish and the next day returned for Mack.
They say he’s very intelligent and very friendly and is trying hard to do what is required of him. He’s coming on well and getting the toilet training together.
He has to fit into a household that has two well established cats – a challenge for him and the cats. It will be interesting to see how the pecking order is worked out.

I’m betting the cats will be on top.

Mack is great fun and has found a place in his new owners' hearts. It has yet to be seen if the cats will take him to their hearts.
My post on January 2nd talks about choosing a dog. It's called Percy the Pug.
