Rescue Dogs Melbourne, San Francisco

I have had a lovely e-mail from Linda in San Francisco regarding their Rescue Dog Scheme. This is what she says,

‘Two of our GREAT friends and WONDERFUL volunteers, Mat and Anna, are
moving to Australia next year...... our loss will be YOUR gain....
they are amazing dog people who do So very much for rescue!

Best wishes to you and ALL the dogs of Melbourne!

Check out their web site - they are doing wonderful work. This is what Linda told me.
'Wonder Dog Rescue is a group of volunteers committed to rescue, rehabilitate
and re-home dogs at risk of euthanasia because of shelter overcrowding, age,
and special needs. We are always looking for volunteers to foster
dogs, transport,
or help at our adoption fairs. We encourage you to join us and becomepart of the solution.'

After getting this e-mail I thought I would visit the rescue dog, Cody, who I first featured on this blog in December 2007.

Read his story
here.
As you can see from the photos he is still looking good although he is now a few years older.

He came from the Melbourne Save-a-dog-scheme http://www.saveadog.org.au/

You may like to share a rescue dog story with us. It is always heart warming to read good-outcome stories.

Resting at the cafe in the Botanical Gardens

The Melbourne Botanical Gardens are lovely at this time of the year. In the morning there is a faint mystical mist hanging over the low lying lake. The camellias are coming out. Although if you are a real fan you may want to wait a couple more weeks when there will be more of them.

The café was bathed in sun and it was a resting place for people and dogs.

Rescue dog Cody (CLICK HERE FOR HIS STORY) was eager for his snack

and then he let himself be bathed in the winter sun.

Red is the ‘in’ colour for jackets this year. Red was the predominant colour on the RSPCA’s Millions Paws Walk. Nugget, the Minature Maltese, we met there was wearing a red jacket with a hood but he preferred to wear it down.

These two spaniels were very patient and they were happy to share their water.

If you do decide to walk in the Bot Gardens and finish with a rest at the cafe - check the prices before you order. A coffee and the average sized muffin sets you back $8.00.

Rescue Dog - Botanical Gardens, Melbourne

I introduced you to Cody as a rescue dog in the post I wrote on the 22nd of December 2007 . I met him again in the Botanical Gardens café. He walks there once a week and finishes off with an ice cream.

(Above) You can see how eager he is for the ice cream to be purchased and brought to him!

His flavour is vanilla but if anyone else has any left he'll lick down any flavour.

Cody has come a long way since he was a resident in a cage at Safe-A-Dog scheme.
