Rescue Dogs – Chinese Crested

The Wonder Dog Rescue in San Francisco says they have rescued several Chinese Crested. This is a photo of one that they have re-housed. He is so sweet and looks so cute in his hat I had show him to all of you.

The Wonder Dog Rescue says they are very loving dogs and make great pets. They tell me they do get cold easily. If you’re in Melbourne with your Chinese Crested remember to cozy your darling up in the freezing winter weather we are having at the moment.

Resting at the cafe in the Botanical Gardens

The Melbourne Botanical Gardens are lovely at this time of the year. In the morning there is a faint mystical mist hanging over the low lying lake. The camellias are coming out. Although if you are a real fan you may want to wait a couple more weeks when there will be more of them.

The café was bathed in sun and it was a resting place for people and dogs.

Rescue dog Cody (CLICK HERE FOR HIS STORY) was eager for his snack

and then he let himself be bathed in the winter sun.

Red is the ‘in’ colour for jackets this year. Red was the predominant colour on the RSPCA’s Millions Paws Walk. Nugget, the Minature Maltese, we met there was wearing a red jacket with a hood but he preferred to wear it down.

These two spaniels were very patient and they were happy to share their water.

If you do decide to walk in the Bot Gardens and finish with a rest at the cafe - check the prices before you order. A coffee and the average sized muffin sets you back $8.00.

Close of Day, Melbourne - Rescue Dog Cody

At the end of the day when games are over, TV watched, the children tucked into bed and the stories read, tranquility settles on the home.

Is it the same when a dog sleeps?

Remember Cody? You can catch up with him here

Cody has walked, met friends, played, eaten dinner and succumbed to sleep.
This is a picture of ease and a life well lived.
The world is at peace. "An open eye is enough. There is no need to get up."

Rescue Dog

Cody is one of the first dogs I got to know in Melbourne. He was rescued as a fully grown dog from the dog shelter at Save-A-Dog Scheme. I met him after he had been in his new home for only a few days. He was rather flighty and nervous and a little anxious.

Time has past and he is now part of his new environment, an apartment near Gasworks Park where he can be found exercising most days. He has proved to be an ideal choice.

He bonded quickly and well with his new owner. So much so that if they are walking and she is out of his sight he immediately becomes anxious. We don’t know his history and perhaps she is the only person who has given him security.

Cody put the animal shelter far behind him when he agreed to become a photographic model for a brand of canine fashions.

He has given a great deal of joy, love and entertainment. We’re all richer for him coming into our lives.
The pictures show Cody asking for his dinner and leaving his bed for somewhere cooler on a hot Melbourne night.
