RSPCA Million Paws walk yearly fund raising walk

On Sunday thousands of paws and feet covered the circuit around the lake in Albert Park. It was a cold, overcast day with a chilly wind and an occasional sprinkling of rain. The weather didn’t deter 16,000 people and 10,000 dogs turning out and registering for the event.

It's very easy to get confused and entangled in the leashes when you are walking together.

This malamute was looking to go in a different direction.

There were dogs of every breed, every shape, every colour, every size and every age walking the lake-lap. There were also activities where dogs could show their skills, I.Q., prowess and ability and where owners could smile and basked in the reflected glory of their canine achieving..

More than $250.00 was raised for the RSPCA - a charity that does a stunning job. I understand that this will go to the shelter and animal care programmes

Not every dog walked the distance as we will see in more detail in my next posting.

The lake is a beautiful setting for walking and many Melburnians walk there on a regular basis. The lake is home to a number black swans and various water birds. It's a good picnic spot and there a couple of cafes in the park.
