Chihuahuas out in the warmer weather

Melbourne has warmed up over the last couple of days. It's very windy but the wind is warm and these two chihuahuas were out in St Kilda East without their coats.
Life can get rather boring when you are waiting and I believe one of them is telling his friend a secret.

It is too early for spring and I bet the next time I see these two they will be rugged up.

Meet Sunshine the Chihuahua, Pomeranian Cross

This delightful little dog was found wandering the streets in a bad state and was taken in and cared for.

Her charming owner, who said she was in her early 80s, didn’t want to be photographed. She told me all about how she came by Sunshine and explained how they both go round collecting signatures for petitions to help lobby against cruelty to animals. They have recently been campaigning to save the whales in the Southern Ocean

Sunshine sometimes walks but she tires easily so needs to spend time in the comfort of the shopping cart.

Why the name Sunshine? Her owner says it is because she has brought sunshine into her life.

Bark in Alma Park – Dogs' Day Out

Lining Up
Every dog who was anyone in the dog world was at the Beneful Bark in Alma Park last Saturday. There were free goodies including free professional dog washing and grooming and a four-legged fashion Parade.

Dogs of Melbourne are very well socialized – they queue like the best of them. It is hard to know if they knew why they were waiting. Washing and grooming isn’t usually a dog’s favourite event – although when it is free it is hard to resist.

There were large dogs…. I loved this black and white Great Dane……..

………..and then there were small dogs. A Chihuahua rests a foot on a shoe.
